Over the course of two years, I revisited and inquired into the multifaceted nature of the dramatic and theatrical mask. "Masque, 2019" explores the ability of masks to obscure while expressing an entirely different reality. "Sensibilities, 2021" follows in the tradition of the dramatic mask that exaggerates emotion to express it, while granting its wearer greater freedom in their expression. "Memoriam, 2020" looks at the mask as a death mask, where the combination of flowers that hold scent and the cast of the face work together to conjure memory in sight and scent. All three of these works delve into the rich history that the mask holds and the craftsmanship involved in making them.

This sculpture was created as a visualization of the head as the site of memory tied to the senses, particularly sent. The head is filled with lavender and dried flowers tied to my memory and work as memory triggers.
